JEDict

Oct 1, 2006: JEDict versions from 4.2 to 4.2.2 were found to be expired. My mistake, I just forgot to remove 'This beta version is expired' alert introduced in JEDict 4.2b. Fixed JEDict 4.2.3 version was released the same day. On Sep 23, 2006 new serial numbers were sent to all JEDict. Sergey Kurkin has revamped his JEDict dictionary and produced version 4.0.5, for people running Mac OS 10.4 and up. The old JEDict 3.8.1 is still available for download and works a treat on Mac OS 8.1 through 10.3.9. Version 4.0.5 has a number of major changes: 1. It looks different - Version 4.0.5 has the look of a simple web browser. Originally JEDict was developed as Japanese-English dictionary, therefore it supports all conceivable methods of kanji lookup. JEDict has internal text editor, multilingual user dictionary, JLPT list viewer and web browser with contextual word translation.

You hit on some stuff that I use. I have an iPod Touch and use Kotoba there along with Rikaichan on Firefox (the only time I don't use Safari is when I need to use Rikaichan!). I normally use JEDict on my laptop, never thought to try Dictionary. JEDict is kind of clunky sometimes so I think I'll check it out. June 25, 2010 at 10:04 PM.

Install Jedicut updates

The procedure is the same 🙂

If you use the setup file, it will detect the presence of an old Jedicut installation , and it will preserve all your settings files.

An alternative for experienced users

An alternative solution is to download a ZIP archive with Jedicut 2.4.2 containing all Jedicut files, and to drop them into the directory of your choice.
